The Sunshine room has a calm and homely feel, deliberately designed to feel intimate and secure to help your precious baby settle quickly into Nursery Life. Our beautiful, bright baby room offers a wide range of resources and materials suitable for babies up to 2 years. Every effort is made to continue with routines established at home when babies first join us, but as they grow and develop, mealtimes and playtimes are sociable group activities.
As your child becomes involved in daily routines, they will see the connections between home and nursery in a friendly and supporting way. Our child centred transition and key worker system, alongside positive parent partnership ensures there is a strong connection established with a member of the baby team from the beginning. We offer free unlimited settling-in sessions to ensure the transition from home into nursery life is as easy as possible.
Babies have 3 different areas of provision to explore in their big ground floor rooms. A soft carpeted area includes the home corner, reading area, cosy corner, sensory area and the front windows where they love to stand and watch the world go by. There is also a large messy area for daily fun activities and mealtimes. The separate nappy changing area enables us to maintain privacy and calmness around nappy changes. The rooms feature calming colours that aid restful sleeping times, with black out blinds and soft music our babies rest in our unique sleep pods or cots.
At this age, children are making sense of the world around them – exploring materials through sensory investigation and discovery is part of everyday life. With a designated baby area within our newly installed garden, babies have the opportunity for daily outdoor play. We also make full use of the local parks and are often out on adventure walks.
The baby room staff complete specific ‘baby’ training courses and have relevant experience working with the age group as recommended by the statutory guidance. Staff spend time getting to know your baby during unlimited settling in sessions and focus on building a strong relationship with both parent and child, resulting in the highest standard of care possible.
